Auf der einen Seite k\u00f6nnen Sie die Kirche Chiesa della Madonna dell\u2019Altomare bewundern, in welcher sich die Statue der Madonna befindet, die von den T\u00fcrken gestohlen und dann in Otranto auf einem St\u00fcck Holz wiedergefunden wurde. Im Inneren der Kirche befinden sich die Reliquien der Einwohner Otrantos, die 1480 von den T\u00fcrken grausam ermordet wurden. Vom 13. bis 15. August werden auf der Strandpromenade und im ganzen Zentrum die f\u00fcr den Salento typischen Leuchten und Verkaufsst\u00e4nde montiert, um das Ortsfest Santi Martiri di Otranto (heilige M\u00e4rtyrer von Otranto) in Szene zu setzen. Vom Balkon der Struktur aus ist es m\u00f6glich, das magische Feuerwerk auf dem Meer zu bewundern.<\/p>\n

Wenn man sich in Richtung des Leuchtturms Faro della Palasc\u00eca begibt, dem \u00f6stlichsten Punkt Italiens, k\u00f6nnen Sie die Kirche San Francesco sehen, wo das Gemetzel der Einwohner Otrantos von Seiten der T\u00fcrken stattfand.
